Hours: It is open for patio dining Wednesday – Friday from 4 – 7:45 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 3 – 7:45 p.m. Location: Ace Eat Serve is located at 501 East 17th Ave., Denver. The soup dumplings here are particularly important to have fresh, so while dining continues to be take-out only, we’d highly recommend enjoying them in the car at the very second that the steam slows to a still-visible whisper. Lao Wang plays by its own rules and like anyone at the top of their game, it occasionally flexes its own unabashed idiosyncracies - even if that means shutting the doors whenever the hell they please. While a gleeful arrival may easily be crushed by a note reading that the place is closed for any old reason the elderly couple who run the place have come up with that day, Lao Wang is the type of place one keeps coming back to. The south Federal institution - nestled in a strip mall and following a loosely-recognized set of limited hours - has the kind of xiao long bao that makes any inconvenience worth the trip. The Lowdown: Lao Wang Noodle House needs little introduction. Hours: It is open for pickup Tuesday – Saturday from 12 p.m. Today was the last chance I will give it and strongly suggest folks looking for dim sum seek elsewhere.Location: Lao Wang Noodle House is located at 945 South Federal Blvd, Denver. Something did not add up but not really possible to figure out the bill at most dim sum resturants. The kicker: today's bill was higher than in recent visits and we had 3 fewer adults. This place is nothing like it was even three years ago. As we walked out I noticed that the three carts they had circling the room had almost none of the variety of food from years past. They did bring 2 times to the table directly from the kitchen but at this point it was a ruined lunch. Several servers approached the table over the next 15 minutes, apologizing and asking if we wanted anything specific. We politely explained that we had barely seen a food cart in the past 30 minutes. One of the non-serving staff came by the table and observed we were done eating and wanted us to pay. After about 50 minutes we had seen 3 carts and we were all underwhelmed with the quality. It took about 20 minutes for another cart to come our way and sadly it had very limited choices, most of which looked a bit old. We were able to pick a few items from the lone cart that worked its way to the back of the back room soon after we sat, but then almost nothing. We were placed in the ‘back room’, which is quite narrow. Today we gave it one last try and it was our worst experience ever at this restaurant. Unfortunately the quality and enjoyability of the place has declined during the past 18. I have been eating regularly at Super Star Asian for about the past seven years as I found it to be one of the more reliable dim sum establishments in Colorado. This way you can ask for the items you like by pointing which for some people is much more convenient. Give this place a try and you might like it.īTW, they are serving Hong Kong style Dim Sum so instead of offering items in a menu, they use push carts to wheel the delicacies around all the tables. And while waiting for a table, you can walk around an Asian supermarket nearby to get some fresh vegetables and fruits that might not be offered by your local King Soopers or Safeway. You never have to worry about not finding a parking space. There might be other restaurants serving better Dim Sum in Denver, but only this place offers ample parking spaces due to it being situated in a shopping center. They also offer pan fried noodles with a variety of vegetables and meats that my wife always want to get. The offers include shrimp dumplings (some of the best anywhere), sticky rice with stuffing in lotus leaves (a bit on the small side), tofu wraps, shrimp crepes, pork spareribs in black bean sauce, siu mai (an item that has been vastly improved from the previous owner), taro dumplings, turnip cakes, egg tarts, bbq pork buns, just to name a few. of Chinese Dim Sum items that one would expect from any good Dim Sum restaurant.
